A few years ago, my best friend from upstate New York started telling me about how she was getting her nails dipped. For the most part, I listened and ignored. At the time, I had just started getting gel manicures.
Let me set the nail scene for you here, though – I am not a consistent manicure-getter. I go for events, and in the past few years, that’s meant about once a month or a little under. I try to give my nails a break in between. I love how gel holds up – to me, it’s worth the extra $20ish vs. a regular manicure.
Except I always a monster and peel it off slowly and then am always too busy to prioritize getting it taken off. This is the stage where the peeling edges catch in my hair or pull delicate clothing. And I hate it. So I pick at it more.
Anyway, gel has worked for me – until recently. I’ve never gotten more than about two weeks out of a gel. And as you saw, my honeymoon was longer than that.
Finally, I listened to my friend. I decided to try getting my nails dipped.
- Everyone I spoke to told me it lasts them close to three weeks, and it takes about the same amount of time as getting a gel mani.
- At this point, you still get just as much variety when selecting colors – and often times, there are regular polishes for your toes to match!
- Luckily for me, my regular nail salon offers dip. So off I went…
I’ll let you know how it goes.
