Sliding into Mudslides

There’s only a few weeks left of warm summer nights, and I plan to make the most of them!

One of the best ways – for crews 21 and older – is to mix up a blender full of mud slides and enjoy a backyard fire pit. I first had a mudslide a few years back on Cape Cod, and it’s become a tradition with our group of friends to get them every summer during a weekend away, and to try to make them for ourselves. My husband and I even made a batch for a family reunion!

Mudslides are one of the easiest things to mix up – and they always take delicious. You have to be careful, though, these guys will hit you hard if you’re not careful!

Kitchen Swagger shared a version here. You’ll need a blender, a few cups, and the following supplies.

Their recipe calls for:

  • About 2 cups of ice
  • 4 ounces of Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 2 ounces of Kahlua Coffee Liquor
  • And 2 ounces of vanilla flavored vodka

Other recipes also call for ice cream – chocolate, or some sort of caramel and chocolate situation – but that’s just added calories in my mind.

Essentially you measure this out, throw it all in a blender, and wha-la! Mudslides.

I’m definitely of the mindset of making it your own – so you can always add a bit of something to make it to taste. If it tastes watery, it’s because you started with too much ice. Start with less next time through and add it into the blender as you go.

You can definitely use other brands of Irish Cream, but Bailey’s really does work best. We used SKYY Infusions vanilla vodka once, and we were happy with the results. You can also try the recipe with Smirnoff’s vanilla vodka.

If you ever make it down to Cape Cod, be sure to grab a mudslide at the Chart Room. Beautiful sunsets, great vibe, and an incredible mudslide window. As you may have seen, getting back to the Chart Room is on my last minute bucket list! And it should definitely be on yours.

As always, this post is for 21 one years and older.
