But I got the best of them, so in the end, we’re even.

Except I’m up almost 10 pounds.

This summer has been jam-packed with trips, parties, and snacks. The 80/20 rule is no longer in place. I’ve lost track of what portion control is. Maxi dresses are a bit too forgiving.

My cycle of events is a little thrown off this year, and with September rapidly approaching, I’m reminded that I’m actually re-starting wedding season. From September to December we’ll attend six weddings, and I’ll attend six showers and some bachelorette activities. And I’m feeling really negative about my body right now.

I’ve fallen off of my workout routine, but I’m aiming to get that back on track. I need to rebalance my eating. I truly truly truly believe that balance is key – I don’t think a healthy lifestyle is one without any sweets or carbs. While I try to stay away from processed foods, occasionally I need pizza. Usually I balance this off with a salad for the other meal, and consistent workouts – and I do my best to enjoy it, not feel guilty.

In the last few weeks, I’ve noticed how much weight I’ve put on this summer – my work pants aren’t comfortable, I’m not feeling confident, and my hair and skin look like I’ve been enjoying late night Chinese food (because I have been).

I’m in need of a jump start.

My husband and I have considered Keto more than once – and there was one day where all I ate was bacon about six months ago, and I was convinced I was following the Keto diet. He followed it for maybe two weeks and dropped weight, but then life got in the way, and he didn’t stick to it.

So, we’re going to try again.

As you’ve probably read by now, my first step in most endeavors is to turn to Google. I found a few articles on the Ketogenic Diet – pros, cons, health benefits and health concerns. Before you make any type of decision about this diet, read up. It’s your body. You won’t get another one. Make sure this is a healthy choice for you.

Everyday Health shared this article about keto. A bit intimidating, but this article clearly outlines what you can eat, and what you cannot. This is what I struggle with most on a diet. And my after work snack. That’s my downfall.

We’re going to try this next week.

I’ve found a few meal plans that I’m going to look in to. I’ll share some recipes – and some feelings on the Keto flu as we go. I’m hoping that shedding a few pounds will help me motivate to get back in to my workout routine. Whether or not I continue the diet beyond a few weeks will really be determined by how my body feels.
